Sept. 14 & Fridays through Oct. 12

• Cruise Nights/Car Shows, sponsored by Just Us Cruisers Classic Car Club, 6-9 p.m., in the parking lot at 1980 Route 35 North, next to F-1 Motoring, South Amboy/Sayreville. Family-oriented events feature more than 50 antique and classic cars from across the tristate area. Trophies, games, music from the '50s, '60s, '70s. All proceeds benefit the Sayreville Brain Injured Children Association. Businesses invited to donate a trophy and have their names mentioned at the shows. • Flea Market, sponsored by Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, 8 a.m. to noon, on the church picnic grounds, corner of Kamm and Whitehead avenues, South River. (732) 254-4979.

Sept. 16

• Book Sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Sayreville Public Library, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sayreville Day, Kennedy Park, Washington Road, Parlin section of Sayreville. Books may be purchased separately or for $5 a bag. Fiction, nonfiction, mystery, paperbacks, children's books, more. Donations for the sale may be dropped off at the Friends' mailbox in the library vestibule. Children's books, works in various genres are sought; magazines, condensed books, textbooks, encyclopedia will not accepted. (732) 727-1566.

• Community Family Picnic, sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council No. 2061, 1-6 p.m., at the knights picnic grove, Washington Road, Parlin section of Sayreville. Sept. 17

• Dining-to-Donate, to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn., 5-8 p.m., at Old Country Buffet, Gateway Shopping Center, Route 9 and Ernston Road, Old Bridge. Cost is $9 for dinner. Participants should present an event flier to the cashier. Restaurant will donate a portion of the proceeds from each dinner check to St. Jude's. Raffles. Co-organizer Sheryl Betti seeking donations of gift baskets. Vendors who sell jewelry, Tupperware, etc., and who are willing to donate a portion of their sales to charity also are sought. Sept. 18

• Dinner at Outback Steakhouse, sponsored by the Sayreville War Memorial High School Band Parents Association, 6- 9 p.m., at the restaurant, Route 9, Old Bridge. Cost is $35 per person; seating limited to 30 adults. Dinner includes six starters, four entrees, sampling of desserts.
