VNA schedules free course on hospice care

The Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey (VNACJ) Hospice program will present a free four-session course titled "Understanding Caring: Understanding Hospice" from 6:30-9 p.m. on four consecutive Tuesdays beginning Sept. 25 at Monroe Village, One David Brainerd Drive. The course is open to individuals interested in becoming hospice volunteers and to any members of the community who would like to learn more about the hospice philosophy of caring for the terminally ill.

Participants will learn about the grief process, family dynamics, communication and listening, spirituality, medical aspects of the terminally ill and pain management. In addition, members of the VNACJ hospice team will provide information on the rewards and opportunities available to hospice volunteers. Admission is free of charge. Advance registration is requested. To register, call Pauline DePalma at (732) 224-6933 or email pdepalma@vnacj.org.
