Tickets to go on sale for library storytelling event

Award-winning storyteller Ed Stivender will be the featured performer at the East Brunswick Friends of the Library's 15th annual James Hess Folklore and Storytelling Festival set for 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 18 at the library, Jean Walling Civic Center. Tickets are on sale now at the library circulation desk.

The Nov. 17 evening performance is intended for adults and older teens. Tickets cost $15 and include a dessert buffet after the show.

The Nov. 18 matinee is geared to children age 7 and up. Tickets cost $3 each, with a maximum charge of $7 per family. Youngsters under the age of 7 will not be admitted.

Individual and/or family sponsorships are available at a cost of $60 each, and business sponsorships are offered at $100. Both sponsorships are partially tax-deductible and include preferred seating for two for the adult program, family admission for the matinee, and a listing in the souvenir program.

In addition to in-person sales at the circulation desk, tickets and sponsorships may be purchased through the mail. Tickets ordered by mail will be held at the door, unless otherwise requested. A $1 charge will be added for mailed tickets.

Stivender, a raconteur and musician, accompanies himself on the banjo while telling a story. Since 1982 he has taken part in annual Philadelphia Mummers Parade, where he has won the Most Original Character award for his one-man Vatican American String Band. He is the author of "Raised Catholic: Can You Tell?," the basis for his humorous and affectionate takes on his parochial-school youth.
