Library events to mark Reading Group Month

To celebrate the Women's National Book Association launch of October Is National Reading Group Month, the Old Bridge Public Library has planned a month-long series of programs centering around reading. All events will take place at the library's Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road.

Book discussion organizational meetings are set for 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16. Interested individuals are invited to share ideas about book selections, format and day and time for meetings. Those who would like to join in the discussion but are unable to attend either meeting should call C.L. Quillen at (732) 721-5600, ext. 5030, e-mail clquillen@oldbridgelibrary.org.

"The Daughter of Time" by Josephine Tey will be the topic at a book discussion planned for 7 p.m. on Oct. 18. The session will be led by Evelyn and Mark Leeper. Books are available at the library circulation desk.

A writers workshop is planned for 7 p.m. on Oct. 23. Participants, who will learn to improve their writing skills with local author Jacqueline Seewald, author of "The Inferno Collection," should bring a notebook and pencil. The Science Fiction Book Discussion Group will focus on "The Space Merchants" by Fredrik Pohl and C.M. Kornbluth at 7 p.m. on Oct. 25. The discussion will be led by Evelyn and Mark Leeper. Books are available at the library circulation desk.

Psychic Jane Doherty, author of "Awakening the Mystic Gift: the Surprising Truth About What It Means To Be Psychic," will discuss her book at 7 p.m. on Oct. 30. Registration for the event is going on at the adult- and information-services desk, (732) 721- 5600, ext. 5033.
