Jazz event to focus on Dexter Gordon

The Central Jersey Jazz Association will present a program on Dexter Gordon from 7-9:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 in the community room at the Chuck Costello Complex, 1998 Route 18 north, Old Bridge.

Gordon, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in "Round Midnight," was a jazz-tenor saxophonist credited as a influence on jazz musicians John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins. Participants in the Oct. 24 program will listen to Gordon's music recorded in Europe.
