O'Brien is an honorable man, displays fiscal integrity and responsibility
We have been reading the Sayreville Democrats' ads and feel we have to tell the voters the truth.

The Democrats are claiming to save open space and stop megadevelopments. What they don't tell you is that it was Kennedy O'Brien who created the Julian Capik Preserve, preserved our wellfields and created the Open Space Fund. Now, the parcel of land the Democrats want to buy with these funds is land that from a practical standpoint is unable to be developed. Sounds like a sweet deal for somebody, just not the taxpayers. Your tax dollars are being squandered.

We got our tax bills. How much can we take? With an increase to the highest taxes in Sayreville history, why would anyone with common sense refuse a hiring-and-spending freeze? But that's exactly what the Borough Council Democrats did when Mayor O'Brien requested a hiring-andspending freeze, and they immediately shot him down.

Yet, when we were council members, we and Mayor O'Brien had a zero tax increase. Yes, people, a zero increase. That's due to Kennedy O'Brien's fiscal responsibility, the kind of fiscal integrity that needs to be restored to the council.

Because the mayor can only vote on issues before the council when there is a tie, it's imperative that the mayor has a team that shares his commitment and vision for the people of Sayreville. What was the Democratic vision for Sayreville when they removed the mayor from the Sayreville Economic Redevelopment Agency (SERA)? We'll tell you - they thought they were paving the way for a one-party, winner-take-all game with your tax dollars. Clearly they don't respect the office of the mayor, as evidenced by their removal of Kennedy O'Brien from the biggest economic development in more than 100 years. The mayor wants a threestrikes law to end club violence - the council, again, won't act. What will it take?

As a former council president and council member, we are appalled at the outright lies that are being said about the accomplishments of Kennedy O'Brien. To all of our constituents who supported us in the past, we urge you to re-elect the most honorable person we've ever known and vote for Kennedy O'Brien and for his highly qualified running mates, David Kaiserman and Paula Siarkiewicz.
