Resident thinks mayor has missed too many meetings
To paraphrase Woody Allen, one of the most important elements of success is showing up. No doubt you've got to be involved in order to make things happen.

If that is the measure of success, then Republican Mayor Kennedy O'Brien has failed in Sayreville. I would estimate that as mayor of Sayreville for nearly a decade and a Borough Councilman before that, O'Brien has missed more than 20 percent of the meetings he was required to attend. In 10 years he has missed meetings of the Borough Council, Planning Board and Redevelopment Agency.

Let me put it another way. An absentee rate of 20 percent over 10 years is like taking two years off. We couldn't keep our jobs with such a record, and Mayor O'Brien shouldn't keep his either. On Election Day just say no to "no-show" O'Brien.
