Date change for talk on altruism, Jewish values

Dr. Elizabeth Midlarsky, Ph.D., co-chairwoman, Department of Counseling and Clinical Psychology, Columbia University, New York City, will offer a presentation titled "Altruism and Jewish Values" at the next meeting of East Brunswick Hadassah set for 7:45 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the East Brunswick Jewish Center, 511 Ryders Lane. The event originally was scheduled for Nov. 5.

Midlarsky, who has done extensive research in the field of altruism and the Holocaust, will use quotes from Jewish sources to discuss how altruism is highly valued for the donor as well as for the recipient. In addition, she will offer an update on the recent spate of hate crimes at Columbia University.
