Armed man robs jeweler
BY MICHAEL ACKER Staff Writer

OLD BRIDGE - An armed robber got away with hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewelry after holding up a township store at gunpoint.

The unknown armed robber entered Corbo Jewelers on Route 9, near Spring Valley Road, through the front door at 8:22 p.m. Oct. 25, took an automatic handgun out of his pocket and pointed it at two female store employees. He had the employees open the display cases and then lay on the ground, according to the police report. He reportedly threatened them verbally and warned them not to sound the alarms or call police.

Among the items that the suspect took in his bag were wedding rings, diamond cluster rings and engagement rings that are estimated to be worth a total of approximately $300,000. He reportedly exited the store through the front door and drove off at a high rate of speed.

The white male suspect was wearing a plastic mask, a gray and black jacket, dark pants, white sneakers, gloves, an orange hat and an orange bag at the time of the robbery, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or the incident is asked to contact the Detective Bureau of the Old Bridge Police Department at (732) 721- 5600.
