Numerous graffiti reports off Main St. BY MICHAEL ACKER Staff Writer
SAYREVILLE - Vandals spread graffiti across several properties in the area of Main Street last week.
Graffiti done with black marker was found on three postal vehicles on or around Main Street the morning of Nov. 7. Two of the vehicles were parked in the upper parking lot of the post office, while the third was parked on Allgair Avenue. Police received three other reports of graffiti at the post office on Oct. 4, 5 and 15.
Graffiti was found at the Four Seasons Flower Shop on Main Street at 10:44 a.m. Nov. 1. The suspect wrote "N$S" on the side of the building in black paint. Graffiti was last found on this property on Oct. 14, when the front window and both sides of the building were marked.
The former Sayrebrook Veterinary Clinic was vandalized Nov. 1 with graffiti that police said is consistent with markings found throughout Sayreville, South Amboy, Woodbridge, Old Bridge, East Brunswick and other municipalities. This graffiti begins with the word "because" and continues with various statements in black lettering that are roughly 2 feet tall and painted in highly visible locations.
The spray-painted wording was found on a construction trailer, a portable restroom and a 40-yard container.
Graffiti was found on the Sayreville public works building near borough hall at 12:36 a.m. Nov. 2. Statements including "Bombers Rule" were written on the garage bay door facing the basketball courts and on the brick exterior of the property. Graffiti was also found on the Mickey Sedlak Recreation Center, off Dolan Street, at 1:39 p.m. Nov. 7, on Nov. 5 on a delivery truck parked on Main Street near the farmers' market, and on Nov. 2 on the front garage doors of a residential property on Main Street.
On Nov. 2, officers with the Sayreville police Street Crimes Unit were patrolling the area behind borough hall when they found new graffiti in black spray paint on various properties. The markings were made between 8 p.m. and 9:38 p.m., police said.
Anyone with information on these incidents or suspects is asked to call the police at (732) 727-4444.
