Teen career, family pages new to county Web site

Two new information pages have been added to the Middlesex County Web site to help with career research and business development. Both sites are accessed through the Department of Workforce Development section.

CAREER 411 is designed to help teens research careers from one site. The page provides direct links to a variety of Web sites, such as NJ NextStop, Career Voyages and Middlesex County College, all of which provide information on careers, jobs, training, résumé and interviewing tips and child-labor laws. Teens may download copies of the Pocket Résumé Guide and the local Youth Yellow Pages and learn about apprenticeships, upcoming job fairs, financial assistance for going to college and how to get a driver's license.

The new Family Friendly Workplace site provides information to both employees and employers. The employee section offers information on child and elder-care options, explains flexible work arrangements and gives tips on work/life balance. The employer section provides links to workforce demographics, assessment tools and services offered by the Business Resource Center, and lists the recipients of the Family Friendly Business Award.

Either site may be accessed by logging on to www.co.middlesex.nj.us/ and selecting Workforce Development under "departments." Tabs for "Youth Career Info, CAREER 411" and "Family Friendly" are located on the left side of the page.
