Assaults reported outside Bordentown Ave. party
BY MICHAEL ACKER Staff Writer

SAYREVILLE - Police from the borough as well as East Brunswick were dispatched to a violent scene involving more than a dozen people on William Street last week.

When police arrived at 1:06 a.m. Nov. 11, there was no fight in progress, but officers found 13 people from various areas, including Old Bridge, South River, Franklin, North Brunswick, East Orange, Perth Amboy, Somerset, Old Bridge and Brooklyn, N.Y., inside two vehicles.

Everyone involved was between the ages of 17 and 30, and was reportedly coming back from a party at a nearby residence in Sayreville.

Police ordered the occupants out of the cars with their hands up, and searched them on the ground, since dispatch received a report that the incident involved a gun.

While no gun was found, police issued summonses to six people for trespassing.

Before police arrived, the group, or some of its members, allegedly got out of their vehicles and assaulted a female victim who was in another car. The group first surrounded her vehicle, which had other occupants, and one of the men broke the driver's-side front window after she locked the doors.

She and another occupant were pulled out of the car and punched in the face, according to the report. Another occupant, who was a juvenile, was punched in the side, but later declined medical attention.

The assailants stole the driver's car keys and the shoes she was wearing. The alleged victim reportedly had small red marks and swelling, but declined medical treatment.

Another alleged victim declined medical attention as well, despite having swelling and a cut inside the upper lip.

Police went to the nearby residence where the party was held on Bordentown Avenue and issued a borough ordinance for excessive noise and disorderly conduct.

William Street is located off Bordentown Avenue, near the East Brunswick border.
