Sports Shorts The Old Bridge Revolution U13 girls soccer team defeated Allentown 3-1 to finish the season with a 7-1-2 record. The highlight of the season though was winning the Wall Fall classic. The girls won all four games, which included a double-overtime/ penalty kicks championship game. Each week, another player or players stepped up to provide the team the spark needed to achieve their successful ending. Their hard work, dedicated practice habits and rousing team spirit gained them a second place finish in their flight and moved them up to MOSA National 1 for the spring season. The Revolution Girls are Kelsiann Acer, Natasha Amaro, Kelly Cameron, Kim D'Ermilio, Kelsey Dunnigan, Emily Garcia, Meaghan Huddy, Melissa Jerome, Kristen Jezycki,Melina Kontos, Minki Medina, Natalie Norcutt, Natalie Principato, Kaitlyn Safchinsky and Tonilynn Taranto. The Monroe U13 Lady Falcons Split a pair of Mid-Monmouth leagues games last week. Monroe defeated Old bridge 44-36 but dropped a close 35-33 game to TYBA (Middletown). Against Old Bridge, Stephanie Johler sparked the offense during the first quarter, hitting three 3-pointers in a row. She ended the game with 13 points. Samantha Clark, Christina Felice and Jackie Racine each added seven points, while Kylie Davidson had four points. Alexa Carini, Victoria Clayton and Kristen Junquet each dropped in a basket. Keriann Manziano (four rebounds) and Jena Pritzlaff (four steals) sparked the defense, while Meghan McClaren and Fallon Regan each grabbed a pair of rebounds. In the game against TYBA, the game was back and forth with Pritzlaff hitting a 3-pointer to tie the game with 40 seconds remaining. TYBA took the lead for good on a basket with 20 seconds left in the game. Racine led all scorers with 13 points while Pritzlaff finished with 10 points. Davidson (four points), Clark (two points), Felice (two points) and Manziano (two points) rounded out the scoring. Johler and Carini provided some key defensive minutes with a pair of steals each. Clayton, Junquet and Mc- Claren each pulled in two rebounds. Monroe opened North Brunswick League play last Sunday with a 30-20 win over Westfield. Monroe's offense came from eight different players. Pritzlaff (six points), Clark (six points), Manziano (five points) and Felice (four points) were top scorers. The rest of Monroe's offense came from Davidson (three points), and Junquet, Mc- Claren and Regan with a basket each. Carini had three steals while Clayton and Racine pulled down four rebounds apiece. Monroe finishes off MidMonmouth league play with a game against Freehold. MidMonmouth playoffs begin on Saturday, Dec. 8. The U13 Lady Falcons continue with North Brunswick play on Sunday. Fastbreak Basketball fourth- and fifth-grade girls travel team won their first game versus a tough team from Hopewell Valley in Robbinsville. Tough defense, rebounding and a few key shots allowed the girls to come away with the victory. Shannon McCarthy led all scorers, and Ally Warren led the team in rebounds. Stephanie Schwailik and Sam Smalley led the team in steals and helped keep Hopewell to 10 points. Abbie Auerbach, Jessica Manne and Ilana Kamenetsky shut down the opposing team's top scorer. Bianca Giliberti displayed great ball handling under pressure and Maddy Lublin hit a key basket to help seal the win. Spotswood Soccer Club will hold inperson registration for the spring season on Dec. 15, Jan. 12, and Jan. 26 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Spotswood Municipal Building. Girls and boys ages 4-14 (as of Oct. 1, 2007) are eligible to play. Registration forms can also be found on www.spotswoodsoccer.com and can be mailed to the address on the form.
