'Healthy Bones' program coming to senior center

The Old Bridge Senior Center, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, will offer a program titled "Healthy Bones" beginning in January.

Almost 1 million New Jersey residents have osteoporosis or low bone mass, and 8,000 individuals over age 65 have hip fractures annually. Osteoporosis is largely preventable for most people through healthy behavior including a balanced diet rich in calcium, vitamins and weight-bearing exercises.

Trained peer leaders will help provide the type of exercise and educational information necessary during the 26-week project at the center. For a full schedule and to register for the program, call Nancy Reich at (732) 721-5600, ext. 6615.
