Dec. 13

• Dining-to-Donate, sponsored by the East Brunswick High School girls basketball team, 4 p.m. to midnight, at Applebee's of Milltown, Milltown Road and Ryders Lane. Diners who eat in or take out must present a Dining-to-Donate flier at the restaurant. Applebee's will donate 10 percent of supporters' bills to the girls basketball team. Dec. 13, ongoing

• Adopt-A-Family, sponsored by the South River Elementary School PTA, to make the holiday season more enjoyable for disadvantaged children in South River. Monetary donations, new clothing, new toys, food are sought. Call Debbie Zemann at (732) 390-0678 or Donna Geesey at (732) 390-8202. Donations accepted throughout the year.

Dec. 13-15

• Jersey Cares Coat Drive, sponsored by Dr. Debra DeMarco of Monroe Chiropractic Care and Gini Mundy of The Well Being, both Jamesburg. Clean, new or gently used coats will go to Jersey Cares, a nonprofit group that aids needy families in New Jersey. Jamesburg dropoff locations: Monroe Chiropractic Care, 15 E. Railroad Ave.; PNC Bank, 36 W. Railroad Ave.; That's Art, 10A W. Railroad Ave.; 1st Constitution Bank, 1 Harrison St. Call Gini Mundy at (732) 521-1333.

Dec. 13-19

• Toys for Tots Collection, conducted by the career and volunteer firemen of Applegarth Station No. 57, Monroe. Drop off from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, at the firehouse, 130 Applegarth Road. New, unwrapped toys sought for needy children throughout New Jersey. Donations also accepted at www.toysfortots.org.

Dec. 13-21

• Christmas Food and Toy Drive, to assist needy local families, sponsored by the Spotswood High School History Club and Octagon Community Service Club. Residents may drop off donations in care of Frank Yusko at the high school, Summerhill Road.

Dec. 13-23

• Food Drive, to benefit the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, at Vogue Hair and Nail Studios, Ticetown Square Mall, intersection of Route 9 and Ticetown Road, Old Bridge. Public encouraged to bring at least one can of nonperishable goods to the salon or donate $1 to the cause. All donors entered into a free raffle to win a gift basket containing products valued at more than $200. All monetary proceeds and food donations go to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. Dec. 13-24

• Gift-Wrapping Service, sponsored by East Brunswick Hadassah, to benefit all Hadassah projects, including medical research for a breast-cancer cure, during regular hours, at Brunswick Square Mall, Route 18, East Brunswick. For a nominal fee, gift items purchased from any store at the mall or elsewhere will be wrapped with seasonal or all-occasion papers and decorated with creative ribbon designs. Dec. 13-29

• Holiday Food Drive, sponsored by the East Brunswick Chamber of Commerce. Donations of packaged nonperishable kosher and nonkosher food items are sought. Businesses throughout the East Brunswick area are designated as donation drop-off centers. For a list of sites, call (732) 257-3009. Dec. 14

• One-Stop Shoppe, an evening of holiday shopping, sponsored by the Milltown PTA, 5-9 p.m., at Parkview School, Violet Terrace, Milltown. Local consultants from various distributors; basket raffles; bake sale. Admission is free of charge. Call Carolyn at (732) 227-9911.

Dec. 15

• Breakfast With Santa, sponsored by the South River Elementary School PTA, 10-11:30, in the cafetorium at South River Middle School, 3 Montgomery St. Youngsters up to age 10 welcome. Breakfast, crafts, games, visit with Santa. Tickets cost $3 each; available before and after the South River Elementary School concert on Dec. 13, or at the door on the day of the event. • Christmas Party for Adults, to collect gifts for needy children in the area, sponsored by Jamesburg Elks Lodge No. 2180, 6 p.m., at the lodge, 74 W. Railroad Ave. Donation is a children's gift valued at $25. Food and entertainment provided.

Dec. 15-Jan. 12

• Book Sale, sponsored by the Spotswood Public Library, during regular hours, at the library, 548 Main St. Hardcover books, paperbacks, children's books, VHS videos, audiocassettes available. Paperbacks sell for 50 cents each or three for $1, hardcovers for 75 cents and up, VHS videos for $1. All-You-Can-Carry-for-$5 Sale set for the last two days of the event, Jan. 11 and 12. • Ice Cream and Movies, to benefit Animal Rescue Force, East Brunswick, sponsored by Mega Movies, 20th Century Fox and Ben and Jerry's, 8 p.m., in the theater food court at Mega Movies, East Brunswick. The new "Simpsons" DVD will be shown. Samples of a new ice cream flavor, Beer and Donuts, will be offered for $2. Proceeds go to Animal Rescue Force. (732) 257-7559.

Dec. 18

• Proceeds Night, sponsored by Our Lady of Lourdes School, Milltown, 5-9 p.m., at T.G.I. Friday's, Route 1 south, North Brunswick. Restaurant will donate 20 percent of each school supporter's check (eat-in or takeout) to the school. Diners must present an event flier for the donation to count.
