Monroe U14 Lady Falcons basketball team dropped their first North Brunswick League game with a loss to Hillsborough in a close 42-39 game. Jena Pritzlaff scored nine points while Jackie Racine (eight) and Kylie Davidson (seven) also supplied key offensive efforts. Alexa Carini, Victoria Clayton and Christina Felice each netted four points, and Samantha Clark added three points. Keriann Manziano and Kristen Junquet provided some key minutes on the defensive end. Monroe is now 3-1 in league play and matches up with South Brunswick in their next game. Baseball players and teams are wanted for the Amateur Baseball Association of N.J. The ABA is the premier adult men's (18 and over) recreational baseball league in New Jersey. The association will have multiple wood and metal skill-level leagues, and had 122 teams in 2007. National Wrestling Superstars will return to the South River VFW Hall, 31 Reid St. (right off Main Street, minutes from Route 18), Friday night, Jan. 25, with a 7:45 p.m. bell time. The event will feature former WWE star Rikishi. Also sharing the spotlight will be two other stars from TV wrestling, former ECWstar and Philadelphia favorite The Blue Meanie, and former WWE and WCW star "America's Hero" The Patriot. Those three superstars will join a card that features the second annual Jersey J-Cup Tag-Team Invitational Tournament. All children ages 5-16 by April 30 are eligible to join the league, which is now affiliated with Cal Ripken/ Babe Ruth League. Those registering must provide a copy of the child's birth certificate at registration, which will be kept on file with the registrar. Anyone wishing to manage or coach must provide a copy of their Rutgers certification and pass a background check. This is the final registration for the 2008 season.
