Man gets heroin charge after police respond to 'revving' call SAYREVILLE - Police charged a borough resident with possession of a controlled dangerous substance outside his QuaidAvenue home last week. Patrolman JohnKwitkoski of the Sayreville Police Department was dispatched to the scene on a report that a motorist was revving the engine of his motor vehicle at a high rate at 1:06 a.m. Jan. 6. The Sayreville Fire Department also arrived to inspect the engine and ensure that there was no fire. Firefighters found no sign of fire, despite the smoke that was coming from the engine. The engine was blown and there was antifreeze all over the road, police said. According to police, Jamie S.Goff Jr., 26, who was in the driver's seat of his car when officers arrived, was charged with possession of heroin after police reportedly observed a small, white folded bag in plain view. Police said the type of bag is commonly used for carrying heroin. Police also recovered an orange cap to a syringe needle on one of the seats in the car, as well as several other small bags of suspected heroin in a rip in the fabric of the driver's side visor. Goff was transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, North Brunswick, where his bailwas set at $5,000. The vehicle was towed from the scene. - Michael Acker |
