The event was the first of two recognizing Black History Month at the library. The second, "Freedom Stairway," with an award-winning multimedia performance by Briz, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 9. It will feature songs and photos depicting the slaves' narratives and music saved by the Works Progress Administration, which conducted interviews in the 1930s with former slaves.
