Dancer, choreographer will be focus of lecture

The Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum will present a public lecture on dancer and choreographer Leonide Massine at 6 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the museum, 71 Hamilton St., New Brunswick.

Guest speaker Lynn Garafola, professor, Department of Dance, Barnard College, Columbia University, New York City, will discuss the work and legacy of Massine, who began his ca- reer as creator and performer of some of Serge Diaghilev's most innovative ballets, including "Parade." After Diaghilev's death, Massine went on to lead the famed Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo.

Professor Garafola's books include "Diaghilev's Ballets Russes" and "The Ballets Russes and Its World."
