Thompson mobile office coming to Old Bridge Assemblyman Sam Thompson (R-13) will sponsor a mobile office from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the George Bush Senior Center in the municipal complex, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, Old Bridge. Legislative staff members will provide information, help constituents resolve problems with state agencies and assist those who wish to sign up for state programs such as the Property Tax Reimbursement (also called PTR or Senior Tax Freeze), the Tenant Homestead Rebate, PAAD (Pharmaceutical Assistance for the Aged and Disabled), Senior Gold and NJFamilyCare. Those who received a check from the Senior Tax Freeze program last year will soon receive their renewal application in themail. Seniors applying for the first time may get an application from the assemblyman's office by calling (732) 583-5558 and asking for a PTR-1 form. Application deadline is June 2. To qualify for the Senior Tax Freeze, an applicantmust be age 65 or older as of Dec. 31, 2006, or be blind or disabled from Dec. 31, 2006, to Dec. 31, 2007. In addition, they must have lived in New Jersey continuously as a homeowner or renter since before Jan. 1, 1997, have owned and lived in their current home since before Jan. 1, 2004, and must meet the maximum income qualifications for two years. For single applicants, the maximum income is $43,693 for 2006 and $45,135 for 2007; for married applicants, the maximum income is $53,576 for 2006 and $55,344 for 2007. Tenants may apply for the homestead rebate by using formTR-1040, the last page of the state income-tax form. Application deadline is April 15. Veterans will be able to register with the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., and apply for New JerseyMilitary Service Medals.
