Sayreville Schools sets kindergarten sign-ups

Sayreville Public Schools is accepting kindergarten registration for the 2008-09 school year.

Parents may pick up a registration packet at their respective schools through March 12. An appointment to register a child may be made upon completion of the paperwork in the packet and after the child has had a physical examination.

Students entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 31, 2008.

The following documents and/or information must be presented when registering:

• child's official birth certificate;

• physician's certificate indicating that the child has received the necessary immunizations as required by the state Department of Health;

• physician's certificate indicating that the child has received a Mantoux test for tuberculosis within six months of the start of the school year, unless he or she is required to do otherwise under current state regulation;

• physician's certificate indicating that the child has had a complete physical examination, including a vision and hearing screening, within a year of September entrance;

• proof of residency as documented by a certificate of occupancy, deed, mortgage agreement, borough tax bill or lease.

The registration of a child will not be completed until all required documents have been submitted.

To provide residents with more information about the district's kindergarten program, parents and children will be invited to an orientation in their respective schools in May or June.
