Dinner will honor four New Jersey firefighters
Brothers Helping Brothers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families of New Jersey firefighters killed or disabled in the line of duty, will hold a Heart of the Fire Service Dinner at 6 p.m. on April 12 at the East Franklin Fire Department, 121 Pine Grove Ave., Somerset section of Franklin. Organizers hope to make the dinner an annual event.
Four New Jersey firefighters will be honored not only for giving their all for their fire departments, but also for giving back to the community.
Jessica Locke, author of "Rescue at Engine 32," will be the keynote speaker. Locke's book tells the true story of one woman's journey to attend to the well-being of firemen devastated by the loss of four members of their company and 339 of their brethren on Sept. 11, 2001.
Tickets for the dinner cost $75 each, $525 for a table of eight. Reservation deadline is April 1. An ad book, featuring profiles of each nominee, will include sponsor advertisements and notes of congratulations from friends and family. Prices for book ads are: front or back cover, $150; full page, $100; half page, $75; two lines on supporter page, $20. Brothers Helping Brothers was founded after the attack on theWorld Trade Center, New York City, to raise money for the families of rescue workers killed while responding to the terrorist attacks. The fund has become permanent and has helped the families of 10 New Jersey firefighters lost in the line of duty.
