Stanley J. Smykaj

Mr. Smykaj, 79, of South River, died March 22, 2008, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was employed for 37 years as a health, physical education and drivers education teacher with the South River Board of Education. Surviving are his wife, Irene Sitkowski Smykaj; four children, Karen Smykaj-Kiczula, and her husband, Peter, of South River, Lisa Karaniewsky, and her husband, Thomas, of Colts Neck, Stanley P. Smykaj of Monroe and Mark Smykaj, and his wife, Holly, of the Parlin section of Sayreville; a sister, Phyllis Senker of Edison; an uncle, Walter Mrozek; and two grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick.
