Police: Man, 19, robbed, hit with gun at motel
BY MICHAEL ACKER Staff Writer

SAYREVILLE - A 19-year-old Lakewood man was the victim of an armed robbery at a Route 35 motel recently, according to a police report.

The robbery took place at the Gallery Holiday Motel, located on the northbound side of the highway, at 3:53 a.m. Saturday, police said. At least two male suspects approached and pointed a gun at the victimas he stood outside amotel roomwhere a latenight party was taking place, according to Sayreville Police Detective Jeremy Berry.

"They are still investigating possible leads on the suspects," Berry said.

The suspects took the teen's wallet, but were unsuccessful in their attempt to take his chain necklace, Berry said. The gunman struck the victim on the forehead with the butt of the gun during the face-off. The victim later refused medical attention for the cut over his left eye.

"It was a party, and the gentleman just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time," Berry said.

After the suspects robbed the victim, they allegedly fired the gun into the hotel room. However, upon investigating the incident, police did not find any holes in the wall. The suspects are believed to have recovered the shell casing before leaving the scene.

Police did not have a description of the suspects, but the perpetrators fled the scene northbound in a white Lexus.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Sayreville police headquarters at (732) 727-4444.
