Local firefighter leads new statewide alliance

SAYREVILLE- Richard J. Kosmoski, of the borough's Parlin section, has been selected to lead the New Jersey Fire Chiefs Alliance.

The alliance is comprised of the top three fire chiefs' associations in the state - the New Jersey Career Fire Chiefs, the New Jersey State Fire Chiefs Association and the New Jersey Volunteer Fire Chiefs Association. The three groups' membership totals more than 2,000 active and former fire chiefs.

The alliance, which supports legislation in the interest of fire service, was formed five years ago in an effort to focus on strategic goals that would benefit firefighters throughout the state, both volun- teer and career. It became a means of airing concerns jointly rather than having each of the three organizations work on its own.K

osmoski currently serves as president of the New Jersey Volunteer Fire Chiefs Association, a position he has held for the past 11 years. As president, he represents volunteer fire chiefs statewide in all aspects pertaining to firefighting, including legislation, firefighter safety and survival, benefits packages and general well-being.

Kosmoski has been an active member of the Sayreville Fire Department for more than 30 years, and is a past chief of the President Park Independent Fire Co.
