Peer mentors sought at local children's hospital

PSE&G Children's Specialized Hospital, New Brunswick, is seeking peer mentors who have a disability and/or have had rehabilitation needs and would like to share experiences with current rehabilitation patients.

Individuals must be age 16-30, and be at least two years post injury or illness onset. Mentors must be functioning age appropriately in terms of education, selfcare, social and employment (where applicable). Volunteers will participate in inpatient support groups and/or teen communication groups, assist staff and lead groups. Mentors must commit to a minimum of three months participation. Groups are now running Mondays from 10-11 a.m. and 11-11:30 a.m.

Volunteers must go through a screening, application process and attend a volunteer orientation. References are also required. For more information, call Tara at (732) 258-7000, ext. 7412.
