The Raritan ValleyYMCA is now registering for summer day camp. The new YMCA, located at 144 Tices Lane in East Brunswick, offers variety, convenience and affordability. A traditional day camp program will be offered for children ages 5-13 at the YMCA's facility, which includes indoor and outdoor settings. Specialty camps allow concentrated time in a chosen specialty camp, followed by instructional and recreation swimclasses, and other camp activities. Specialty camp options include the arts, sports, tennis, soccer, computers, cooking and fitness. The U-10 Girls Lightning Bolts Soccer teamwon three shutout games at the Monroe Township Spring Kickoff Tournament April 26. The first game was a 1-0 victory against the Middletown Tribe, the second game was another shutout win, 2-0, against theMontgomery Blaze, and the final win was against the Monroe Blast by a score of 4-0. The team is composed of talent, dedication and commitment under the direction of Coach Norman and Coach Joe. Goal scorers in the games were Sheridan Casserly, Yona Downes,Melanie Santurro,Madeline Chiapperino and Allison Lopes. Playing awesome defense wereMarissa Scognamiglio, Tara Durstewitz, Jasmine Grossmann, Amanda Singh and Lauren Gomez. Cheering the team on were Amy Van- Buskirk and MaryEllen Redmond.

The Pop Warner Old Bridge Knights Football and Cheerleading squads will be holding open registrations on May 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. and May 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the recreation building at the Old Bridge Civic center on Route 516 and Cottrell Road. The Old Bridge Knights are the newest Pop Warner team in central New Jersey and will be playing teams from the area throughout the fall. The Garden State Snap 14U girls travel softball team is looking for a player to complete its 2008 roster. The team is looking for a dedicated and talented player. The team will play in eight highly competitive tournaments starting in May and continuing through the middle of July.
