Library to celebrate Older Americans Month
A variety of programs will be offered at the Old Bridge Public Library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, to celebrate May Is Older Americans Month. This year's national theme is "Working Together for Strong, Healthy and Supportive Communities."
Each Friday the library presents its Senior Fridays events, designed to give community members the opportunity to get together and talk, create, listen and learn. The programs are part of the library's Senior Spaces project.
The Senior Fridays schedule forMay is as follows:
• May 9 at 1:30 p.m. - "The Jews of Central New Jersey," talk and discussion presented by Jean Klerman of the Jewish Heritage Museum, Freehold;
• May 16 at 1:30 p.m. - "Senior Playgrounds," talk and discussion presented by Senior Spaces librarian Ellen O'Brien;
• May 23 at 1:30 p.m. - "Let's Play!" with gaming, Wii games, bowling, tennis and more;
• May 30 at 1:30 p.m.- "NoMinorAccomplishment," talk and discussion with librarian and baseball historian Bob Golon, whose book will be available for sale at the event;
• May 29 at 1:30 p.m. - "Domestic Violence," talk and discussion led by Lynn Kelly of Women Aware, part of the newly formed women's discussion group;
• May 29 at 6:30 p.m. - "Travel, Travel, Travel," talk and discussion on Aruba and St. Kitts, sponsored by the Aruba and St. Kitts travel boards, New York City.
