Obesity, weight-loss surgery to be discussed

An introductory seminar on obesity and weight-loss surgery will be held from 7-9 p.m., on May 15 in the Sister Marie de Pazzi Conference Center at Saint Peter's University Hospital, 254 Easton Ave., New Brunswick.

Doctors will be available to answer questions about "The Program for Life," a multidisciplinary approach to weight loss for morbidly obese individuals that includes psychological evaluation, nutrition counseling, long-term medical follow-up and support groups. The physicians also will answer questions on health issues associated with obesity, the risks and rewards of various weight-loss surgeries, preoperative preparation and post-op care and more. Insurance representatives will be on hand to answer questions about coverage.
