'Brain-Injury Basics' to be topic of discussion

The Brain Injury Association of New Jersey will offer a free educational session titled "Brain-Injury Basics for Families in Middlesex County" from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on May 13 at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute Center for Head Injuries, in the Hartwyck Building, Edison.

The program, which is designed for family members of individuals who have sustained brain injuries, will offer a presentation and forum for questions. Professionals and individuals with brain injuries also are welcome. The session will be facilitated by Peggy DiTommaso, M.S.W. Discussion will focus on the impact of brain injuries, which are sustained every day as a result of falls, motor vehicle crashes, sports injuries, anoxia, aneurisms and other types of trauma to the brain. Guests will learn about the common effects of brain injury, strategies and tips for caregivers and resources in New Jersey.
