Valentine J. Lawnik

Mr. Lawnik, 82, of South River, died June 5, 2008, in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1991, he owned and operated Val Lawnik Mason Contractors, South River, for more than 40 years. Surviving are his wife, Helen Szgeti Lawnik; three sons, Val Lawnik Jr., and his wife, Joyce, of Monroe, Thomas F. Lawnik of Sayreville and Gregory Lawnik of South River; a daughter, Cindi-Lawnik-Smith of South River; a sister, Jennie Christian of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick.
