Walk for cancer patients Oct. 12

"AWalk in the Park" will be held in memory of Sheila Lore, rain or shine, 10 a.m. Oct. 12, in Buccleuch Park, located across the street from Saint Peter's University Hospital, 254 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick. Proceeds will benefit the Shelia Lore Memorial Fund, and will be used to support programs for patients with cancer and their families, as well as continuing educational opportunities for the oncology staff at Saint Peter's.

The walk begins at the Buccleuch Park gazebo at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. for those who have not pre-registered. Registration fees are $20 for adults, $5 for children under 12, and walkers can seek sponsors. Sheila Lore died of lung cancer on April 8, 2007, at the age of 65. She loved to walk in Buccleuch Park every day after work. To date, the Sheila Lore Memorial Fund, established by Ms. Lore's daughter, Tracey Lore-Menture, and her husband, Kevin Menture, has raised $30,000.
