Family grateful for support of CF foundation
Sir Winston Churchill once said, "We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give." On behalf of our family, would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Raritan Bay Cougars Pop Warner football and cheerleading program for their coordination of Cystic Fibrosis Day on Sept. 7 in honor of our 4-yearold son, Anthony, who battles this devastating disease.

CF is a progressive, chronic disease that attacks the lungs and gastrointestinal system. To slow the progression of this disease, Anthony requires one to two hours of treatment daily as well as tube feedings. Funds are desperately needed to fund research to cure this insidious disease.

Since Anthony's diagnosis at 10 days old, the Raritan Bay Cougars, for which our family has a long commitment of volunteerism, have been steadfast in their commitment to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in support of "Anthony's answer in the fight to cure CF." Under the leadership of President John Barrett, the organization has aided in our fundraising efforts, which with the help of this event, have surpassed $90,000 since Anthony's diagnosis.

We would like to thank Old Bridge Mayor Jim Phillips, who braved the hot Sunday sun to support our son and the youth of Old Bridge.

Also, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Fawn, Olivia and the dedicated staff at Indigo Salon in New Brunswick, who generously coordinated a cut-a-thon on Sept. 15 to help our family subsidize a portion of Anthony's medical expenses. We are so grateful for your efforts.

Lastly, we would also like to thank Greater Media Newspapers and the Suburban for their coverage of our events to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Their continued support is instrumental to our success in raising awareness about our son's story.

It is truly the thoughtfulness of family and friends, coupled with the kindness and support of strangers, that gives us the strength to continue on our lifelong battle for a cure. Words cannot express our gratitude.

Ken, Kerryann, and

Anthony Silvestri
