• Food Drive, to benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, in the main lobby of the Chelsea at East Brunswick, 680 Cranbury Road. Items sought include: canned fish/meat; powdered milk and infant formulas; boxed meals (pasta, potatoes, rice); canned meals (macaroni and cheese, chili, stews, meaty soups); peanut butter (plastic jars only); canned fruit and vegetables. Donors asked to check expiration dates. Items in glass or cellophane will not be accepted. Community FoodBank operates emergency food pantries, soup kitchens and feeding programs for seniors and children across New Jersey. • Bedtime Bags Drive, sponsored by the Junior Woman's Club of the Greater Brunswick Area. Seeking donations of new children's books, pajamas, stuffed animals and small blankets to be used in creating Bedtime Bags that will be donated to Foster and Adoptive Family Services. Bedtime Bags encourage foster parents to read bedtime stories with their foster children, helping to bond foster families together and boost children's literacy skills. Rides for children and adults; games of chance; "Las Vegas" money wheel for adults; nightly and super-50/50 drawings; raffle for 50-inch plasma high-definition TV; seafood area; food tent featuring ethnic and American homemade foods; nightly entertainment; beer garden; barbecued ribs; desserts; fish fry beginning at 5 p.m. June 26. • Car Wash, sponsored by the East Brunswick Young Adult Charity Players (EBYACP), 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at East Brunswick High School, 380 Cranbury Road. Cost is $5 for cars, $8 for vans, similar vehicles. EBYACP will perform its original musical, "Camp Showbiz," July 31-Aug. 2 at the new East Brunswick Cultural Arts Center. All proceeds from ticket sales, car washes, other fundraisers benefit Camp Daisy, an organization for people with special needs, and its Parents Association, East Brunswick. • Community Yard Sale, to benefit the Raritan Valley YMCA Strong Kids Youth Scholarship Fund, conducted by employees from J.C. The Y has provided more than $20,000 in financial aid to youth and families in the Brunswicks, Spotswood, Helmetta, South River, Milltown.
